CFML needs wiki love!

Jun 12 2008 - By George Webster

With the rise of two great open source engines for CFML (Coldfusion Markup Language) and the major corporate backing of Adobe I expect (hope) CFML to grow in popularity. While it may or may not surpass the spotlight it had in the late 90s early 00s the fact remains that its still widely used and one of the most productive high level web languages around. Now we have even greater accessability from the open source community which in has only supported perl, php and recently ruby. CFML has been around for quite a long time, mid 90s i believe and has had its raises and falls in popularity. Surprisingly this late in its life, it has a serious lack of publishing, in both books and online resources. I know many great sites do exist and those in the community are extremely helpful. However in this day and age when we want to learn about something...we go to the WIKI!!!

If you haven't gone, go check out the ColdFusion Markup Language page on wikipedia....better yet take 20 mins and add some love, because obviously it needs it. How can we as developers expect CFML to grow and spread, when they can't even read a decent wiki page about the language??
